Transducer-Based Rewriting Games for Active XML
نویسنده
چکیده
Context-free games are two-player rewriting games that are played on nested strings representing XML documents with embedded function symbols. These games were introduced to model rewriting processes for intensional documents in the Active XML framework, where input documents are to be rewritten into a given target schema by calls to external services. This paper studies the setting where dependencies between inputs and outputs of service calls are modelled by transducers, which has not been examined previously. It defines transducer models operating on nested words and studies their properties, as well as the computational complexity of the winning problem for transducer-based context-free games in several scenarios. While the complexity of this problem is quite high in most settings (ranging from NP-complete to undecidable), some tractable restrictions are also identified. 1998 ACM Subject Classification F.2.m Miscellaneous, F.4.2 Grammars and Other Rewriting Systems, H.3.5 Online Information Services

Verifying Recursive Active Documents with Positive Data Tree Rewriting
This paper considers a tree-rewriting framework for modeling documents evolving through service calls. We focus on the automatic verification of properties of documents that may contain data from an infinite domain. We establish the boundaries of decidability: while verifying documents with recursive calls is undecidable, we obtain decidability as soon as either documents are in the positive-bo...
متن کاملTowards an Exhaustive Set of Rewriting Rules for XQuery Optimization: BizQuery Experience
Today it is wildly recognized that optimization based on rewriting leads to faster query execution. The role of a query rewriting grows significantly when a query defined in terms of some view is processed. Using views is a good idea for building flexible virtual data integration systems with declarative query support. At present time such systems tend to be based on the XML data model and use ...
متن کاملEfficient dictionary-based text rewriting using subsequential transducers
Problems in the area of text and document processing can often be described as text rewriting tasks: given an input text, produce a new text by applying some fixed set of rewriting rules. In its simplest form, a rewriting rule is given by a pair of strings, representing a source string (the “original”) and its substitute. By a rewriting dictionary, we mean a finite list of such pairs; dictionar...
متن کاملEfficient XML Query Rewriting over the Multiple XML Views
{gaojun, dqyang, tjwang }@ pku.edu.cn Abstract XML query rewriting in the distributed computing environment receives high attention recently. Different from existing work, we focus on the query rewriting in the cases that there are multiple views at the client side. We design two data structures to manage the multiple XML views. MPTree is constructed from the main path of the XML views to gener...
متن کاملPolicy Classes and Query Rewriting Algorithm for XML Security Views
Most state-of-the-art approaches of securing XML documents are based on a partial annotation of an XML tree with security labels which are later propagated to unlabeled nodes of the XML so that the resulting labeling is full (i.e. defined for every XML node). The first contribution of this paper is an investigation of possible alternatives for policy definition that lead to a fully annotated XM...
